The one character that reminds me of someone else is the Confederate general Pickett. He is eccentric and has a great sense of humor, and because of this it seems to me that he could be any one of a number of my friends. The setting for the novel is definitely very important because the novel is based on the actual events of the Battle of Gettysburg, so if it were anywhere else it wouldn’t really make sense. The part of the book where Chamberlain and his men fight on Little Round Top seems very realistic to me just because of how much detail the author puts into that particular fight scene. The character that I like the most is Colonel Chamberlain, because even though he has command over his men, and is a great officer, he doesn’t let it go to his head, or make stupid mistakes in battle. It even seems like he doesn’t really want the job because he thinks he’s not doing well enough at it. He is also the character that I most admire, for these same reasons.
